Chiropractic for Runners & Active Individuals in Philadelphia

Whether you're training for your first 5K or your next ultramarathon — your body deserves care that understands how you move.

Running is more than exercise. For most people it's therapy. It's the thing that clears your head after a hard week, keeps you sane during a busy season, and gives you something that is purely yours.

When that gets taken away by pain or injury it affects everything — not just your fitness but your mental health, your stress levels, and your sense of self.

At Brewerytown Chiropractic in Philadelphia we understand that because our chiropractor Dr. Jason Karpinski lives it himself. As a competitive trail runner and ultramarathon runner he brings firsthand knowledge of what your body goes through in training, how injuries actually develop, and what real recovery looks like.

This is not generic sports chiropractic. This is care from someone who gets it.

Meet Dr. Jason Karpinski

Philadelphia Chiropractor | Movement, Manual Adjustments & Muscle Therapy

Dr. Jason Karpinski is a Philadelphia chiropractor who focuses on helping active adults overcome pain, restore mobility, and stay capable of doing the things that matter most — whether that's crossing a finish line or making it through a demanding work week without breaking down.

Originally from Berks County, Dr. Karpinski earned his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Alvernia University before completing his Doctor of Chiropractic degree at New York Chiropractic College. What sets him apart is the combination — athletic training, chiropractic expertise, and the firsthand experience of someone who actually trains and races himself. In practice he combines manual adjustments with Nimmo Trigger Point Muscle Therapy and individualized recovery plans tailored to how you actually move and live.

Outside the clinic he's on the trails. As a competitive trail runner and ultramarathon runner Dr. Karpinski understands recovery and injury prevention not just academically but personally.

Built For Runners. Every Level.

From your first training run to your hundredth race — running puts cumulative stress on your body that adds up over time. Most running injuries don't happen in a single moment. They build slowly through training load, movement patterns, and imbalances that go unaddressed until something finally gives.

Dr. Karpinski works with runners at every level in Philadelphia — beginners building their base, recreational runners chasing personal records, and endurance athletes training for marathons and beyond.

Common running injuries we treat at Brewerytown Chiropractic:

IT band syndrome, plantar fasciitis, runner's knee, hip flexor strain, shin splints, Achilles tendinopathy, low back pain, and piriformis syndrome.

Many runners are also surprised to learn that upper back, neck, and shoulder tension are extremely common with higher mileage training. As fatigue sets in your running form breaks down — shoulders creep up, the upper back rounds, and the neck strains forward. Over time this creates real dysfunction that affects not just comfort but breathing mechanics. Rib restrictions from heavy breathing during long efforts are more common than most runners realize and respond extremely well to chiropractic care.

What makes chiropractic care different for runners:

We address the root cause of why the injury happened — not just the location of pain. That means looking at how your entire body moves, where restrictions exist, and what needs to change in your soft tissue to keep you running for the long term.

What To Expect At Brewerytown Chiropractic

Dr. Karpinski combines several approaches to get to the root of what's limiting your movement and keeping you from performing at your best.

Manual Chiropractic Adjustments — precise hands-on adjustments to restore proper joint function and spinal alignment throughout the spine and extremities.

Nimmo Trigger Point Muscle Therapy — targeted treatment of muscular tension and trigger points that contribute to pain, restricted movement, and compensation patterns.

Individualized Recovery Plans — stretching, strengthening, posture training, and practical movement strategies tailored to your specific body, lifestyle, and goals.

The goal is never just to get you out of pain. It's to help you understand your body well enough to keep it moving well for the long term.

You Don't Have To Be A Runner To Need This

Some of Dr. Karpinski's most committed patients have never run a race in their lives.

They're nurses on their feet for twelve hour shifts. Construction workers whose bodies absorb daily physical punishment. Office workers whose posture has slowly collapsed over years of desk work. Parents who carry kids, lift strollers, and never quite recover from the physical demands of keeping a family running.

What they share with runners is this — their bodies are under consistent repetitive stress and they need care that addresses how they actually move through their day, not just where it hurts.

Dr. Karpinski's background in athletic training means he looks at your whole movement pattern. Small changes in posture, strength, and mechanics create lasting improvement that goes far beyond pain relief.

If your body is the tool you use to do your job and live your life — it deserves maintenance.
